In the 21st minute Kjell Vassenius shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfonso Taraborrelli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alfonso Taraborrelli stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kjell Vassenius's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. Rikki Doro kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. Kjell Vassenius sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alfonso Taraborrelli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kjell Vassenius in the 26th minute of play. In the 27thth minute of the game Kjell Vassenius who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but BOTAFOGO's Alfonso Taraborrelli was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in RIO CLUBE REGATAS's zone, Édouard Deloge stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. André Magalhães came out of the goal and Édouard Deloge tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. André Magalhães took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Édouard Deloge, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 34 minutes, Kjell Vassenius managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RIO CLUBE REGATAS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kjell Vassenius was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 35th minute, Jonathan Araújo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The RIO CLUBE REGATAS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Toninho Madureira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but André Magalhães made a huge save. Toninho Madureira might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over André Magalhães. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Toninho Madureira ran back to his position shaking his head. RIO CLUBE REGATAS's Kjell Vassenius got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Toninho Madureira's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but André Magalhães firmly grabbed it by the left post.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Toninho Madureira made a kick off. In the 50th minute, Rikki Doro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 51 minutes, Toninho Madureira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. BOTAFOGO's supporters crossed their fingers, but Toninho Madureira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Kjell Vassenius managed to get in a good position for a shot. RIO CLUBE REGATAS's supporters rose to their feet, but Kjell Vassenius was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alfonso Taraborrelli breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 69 minutes into the match, RIO CLUBE REGATAS's goal looked a bit too open when Édouard Deloge came free, but André Magalhães reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 77 minutes of play, BOTAFOGO's Toninho Madureira made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. André Magalhães was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of BOTAFOGO booed when RIO CLUBE REGATAS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rikki Doro didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Jonathan Araújo fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored RIO CLUBE REGATAS's protests and gave Jonathan Araújo a yellow card for diving instead. Alfonso Taraborrelli didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Leif Ferm went, in the 86th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. André Magalhães showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Toninho Madureira in the 89th minute of the match. In the 92nd minute, Kjell Vassenius ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alfonso Taraborrelli was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. With a little luck, BOTAFOGO's Alfonso Taraborrelli got control of the ball when Kjell Vassenius tried to sneak it across the goal line.
