Aran Pookpan hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nelson Palmeira in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Konrad Gardocki prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 13 played minutes Progresso FC got a freekick which was hit by Yu Chao Gang. After 15 played minutes Progresso FC got a freekick which was hit by Nestor Fontenelle. After 16 minutes, Rudy Lindsholt mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Progresso FC and the São Salvador players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Progresso FC getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Rudy Lindsholt hit a great ball. In the 20th minute, Nestor Fontenelle got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Konrad Gardocki showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nilton de Queirós in the 22nd minute of the match. Erasmo Secanell made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Adrian Onbera sent off a good shot on target. In the 28th minute, Nelson Palmeira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The São Salvador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. After a defensive mix-up in São Salvador's zone, Nestor Fontenelle stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Erasmo Secanell came out of the goal and Nestor Fontenelle tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Konrad Gardocki took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nilton de Queirós, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 40 minutes had been played when some careless play by São Salvador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Benedito Sergipano was slow to take the kick. During this time Progresso FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner led to Progresso FC's Amílton Talló getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. After some careless play in the Progresso FC defense, Paolo Brosio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Konrad Gardocki. The Progresso FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Konrad Gardocki should have stopped the shot. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nelson Palmeira was the one to do the kick off. If Gilberto de Lima had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 54th minute Gilberto de Lima shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erasmo Secanell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. São Salvador's Erasmo Secanell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gilberto de Lima in the 56th minute of play. In the 69th minute Yu Chao Gang shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erasmo Secanell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 73 minutes into the game, Progresso FC's Yu Chao Gang nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Erasmo Secanell made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. 77 minutes into the match, Progresso FC's Yu Chao Gang sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Erasmo Secanell narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Progresso FC were awarded a corner in the 78th minute after São Salvador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Benedito Sergipano took the corner. After taking down the ball on Progresso FC's corner Benedito Sergipano fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Erasmo Secanell quite easily take care of the ball. In the 80th minute Yu Chao Gang shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erasmo Secanell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yu Chao Gang in the 81st minute of play forced São Salvador's goalkeeper Erasmo Secanell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Analajit Aujla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Konrad Gardocki having to interfere. 87 minutes into the match, Progresso FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nelson Palmeira came free, but Konrad Gardocki reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 90 minutes into the match, Paolo Brosio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Konrad Gardocki. Progresso FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Paolo Brosio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4. A hard shot 93 in the game by Nelson Palmeira from a close distance when the talented Konrad Gardocki managed to make a qualified save. Progresso FC's players were relieved. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. São Salvador walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
