Marcus Sampaio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 35 minutes into the game, Felizberto EC's Per Löfkvist nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jeferson Furtado to make the kick off. The referee ignored Bangu RJ's protests and gave Valdir Figueiredo a yellow card for diving instead. Valdir Figueiredo kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Jeferson Furtado's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Arnaldo Laguna read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Constantin Mustăcilă got free with Marcus Sampaio in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
