The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 15 played minutes Pecém got a freekick which was hit by Benjamim Pernambucano. Silas Freire was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 18 minutes into the match. Valdir Tavares in the 23rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Breno Machado, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Sérgio Fernandez hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. In the 28th minute, Valdir Tavares left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Pecém fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0.
