When Válter Gomes came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Coxa Doido fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Válter Gomes couldn't finish the play. Edvaldo Prata's late challenge caught a Limão Com Mel's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustavo de Carvalho in the 21st minute of play forced Limão Com Mel's goalkeeper Erik Cordeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rodriguinho Castro who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 22ndth minute tested the skills of Erik Cordeiro when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 36 minutes into the match, Coxa Doido's goal looked a bit too open when Sidney Cavalcante came free, but Alfredinho Domingues reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 38th minute, Válter Gomes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Erik Cordeiro was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. The crowd rose to their feet as Coxa Doido's Válter Gomes slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Erik Cordeiro. That made the score 2-0 after 41 minutes of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The audience was convinced that Rodriguinho Castro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Erik Cordeiro was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. In the 58th minute Válter Gomes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erik Cordeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
