It was a well-played corner which Hílton Coelho managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Atlético Minuano's Alfredinho Aparecido was substituted for Nicolas Romero. In the 86th minute Alfredinho Aparecido shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Steve Kerr saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Ceará defense, Mathias Ortiz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Steve Kerr. The Ceará fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Steve Kerr should have stopped the shot.
