After some fancy dribbling in the 2nd minute, Cássio do Vale managed to get in a good position for a shot. SeleSantos FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Cássio do Vale was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sem Titulescu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Aílton Seco kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Jacobo Casado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cássio do Vale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sem Titulescu having to interfere. In the 25th minute, Jacobo Casado made a precise shot to the right of Sem Titulescu. Flamengo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Leif Törnqvist got free with Sem Titulescu in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The attack was good, but when Leif Törnqvist in the 30th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. With a little luck, Flamengo's Sem Titulescu got control of the ball when Leif Törnqvist tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some careless play in the Flamengo defense, Niilo Mikkola kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sem Titulescu. The Flamengo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sem Titulescu should have stopped the shot. Sem Titulescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cássio do Vale, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Sem Titulescu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Leif Törnqvist in the 37th minute. After having played for 40 minutes, Niilo Mikkola managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SeleSantos FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Niilo Mikkola was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pedrão Godoi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Faustão Carvalho to make the kick off. 50 minutes into the match, SeleSantos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Faustão Carvalho came free, but Dinei Pinheiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 58th minute Jacobo Casado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sem Titulescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leif Törnqvist in the 60th minute of play forced Flamengo's goalkeeper Sem Titulescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 62 minutes into the match, Flamengo's goal looked a bit too open when Jacobo Casado came free, but Sem Titulescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Leif Törnqvist in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sem Titulescu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match had gone on for 69 minutes, Faustão Carvalho took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Dinei Pinheiro to make any attempt to save it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Niilo Mikkola in the 71st minute of play forced Flamengo's goalkeeper Sem Titulescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In a very dangerous position, a player in Flamengo fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 74th minute. Penalty! Flamengo:s Sem Titulescu showed great skill when he stopped Niilo Mikkola:s penalty. 3-1 came in the 77th minute when Niilo Mikkola all by himself managed to get straight through the defense and place the ball into the net to the right of Sem Titulescu. Sem Titulescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cássio do Vale in the 82nd minute of play. Flamengo's Sem Titulescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leif Törnqvist in the 85th minute of play. With a little luck, SeleSantos FC's Dinei Pinheiro got control of the ball when Wilson Sampaio tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 96th minute, Leif Törnqvist left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SeleSantos FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1.
