Morungaba SC's Nestor Torres proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save Morungaba SC from getting a goal against them. Diamond Football Club's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Luiz Fernando Pombal in the 4th minute. After taking down the ball on Diamond Football Club's corner Luiz Fernando Pombal fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Nestor Torres quite easily take care of the ball. 7 minutes into the match, Alexandre Soeiro notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Morungaba SC's Nestor Torres. Nestor Torres was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Diamond Football Club's Nico Corrêa got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 11th minute, Nico Corrêa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Albertinho Borges recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Diamond Football Club's Cléberson Alves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alf Odman in the 19th minute of play. Alexandre Soeiro's late challenge caught a Morungaba SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alexandre Soeiro helped the player get up and apologised. After 20 played minutes Diamond Football Club got a freekick which was hit by Alexandre Soeiro. In the 22nd minute, Alexandre Soeiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Diamond Football Club's zone, Alf Odman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cléberson Alves came out of the goal and Alf Odman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nico Corrêa in the 26th minute of play forced Morungaba SC's goalkeeper Nestor Torres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Diamond Football Club booed when Morungaba SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Acácio Cearense didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Albertinho Borges could shoot a difficult shot in the 28th minute, which Nestor Torres however easily saved by the left post. 38 minutes into the match, Diamond Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Jarbas Fonseca came free, but Cléberson Alves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 40th minute, Flávio de Carvalho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 44 minutes into the match, Morungaba SC's goalkeeper Nestor Torres had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Albertinho Borges. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alexandre Soeiro to strike the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alf Odman in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cléberson Alves saved Diamond Football Club from getting behind. Oscar de Moraes came free with the goalkeeper in the 54th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Cléberson Alves could save by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexandre Soeiro in the 56th minute of play forced Morungaba SC's goalkeeper Nestor Torres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Morungaba SC's Oscar de Moraes got a free kick in the 57th minute. Alexandre Soeiro kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Morungaba SC's Nestor Torres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albertinho Borges in the 60th minute of play. Nestor Torres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nico Corrêa in the 64th minute of play. 69 minutes into the match, Morungaba SC's goal looked a bit too open when Albertinho Borges came free, but Nestor Torres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luiz Fernando Pombal couldn't finish the play. Nestor Torres took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Albertinho Borges, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 88 minutes of play, Diamond Football Club's Albertinho Borges made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nestor Torres was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Alf Odman in the 92nd minute of play forced Diamond Football Club's goalkeeper Cléberson Alves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Morungaba SC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Diamond Football Club.
