In the 15th minute, Paulinho Mangueira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Paulo José Eger during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Paulista Futebol Clube booed when Lucas Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo José Eger didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Lucas Juniors's zone, Basílio Mesquita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dário Saldanha came out of the goal and Basílio Mesquita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Basílio Mesquita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dário Saldanha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ramiro do Nascimento in the 42nd minute of the match. Paulinho Mangueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 46th minute, Maurinho Silva got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Basílio Mesquita made the kick off in the second half. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Basílio Mesquita couldn't finish the play. If Hugo da Silveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paulista Futebol Clube's Basílio Mesquita got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 86th minute the ball was on its way in behind Lucas Juniors's goalkeeper Dário Saldanha, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Dário Saldanha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Basílio Mesquita in the 91st minute of play. Basílio Mesquita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dário Saldanha having to interfere. Paulista Futebol Clube's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
