Henk Latomme's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Frankie Gunn read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Henk Latomme during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Luís Eger hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. 31 minutes into the match, Tocantinópolis EC's goal looked a bit too open when Rony Rüşti came free, but Hélio Gomes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leões do Sul 53 were awarded a corner in the 33th minute after Tocantinópolis EC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Hílton Britto took the corner. Frankie Gunn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Tocantinópolis EC's zone, Arne Kullander stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hélio Gomes came out of the goal and Arne Kullander tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Leões do Sul 53 booed when Tocantinópolis EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amauri Corrêa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Breno Porto made in the 45th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Arne Kullander immediately put the ball in play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Michel Bagge to make the kick off. A throw-in in the 51st minute of the game was made by Breno Porto with Arne Kullander as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Hélio Gomes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rony Rüşti's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. 53 minutes into the match, Leões do Sul 53's Arne Kullander sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hélio Gomes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Rony Rüşti had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tocantinópolis EC made a substitution. After 65 played minutes, Tocantinópolis EC's Luís Eger shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Frankie Gunn came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Tocantinópolis EC reached it. A collision led to Leões do Sul 53 getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Arne Kullander hit a great ball. Frankie Gunn stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Michel Bagge's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. With a little luck, Leões do Sul 53's Frankie Gunn got control of the ball when Michel Bagge tried to sneak it across the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Michel Bagge in the 77th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Frankie Gunn prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience thought a goal was coming when Michel Bagge got free with Frankie Gunn in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Tocantinópolis EC getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Luís Eger hit a great ball. Michel Bagges short, quick shot in the 85thth minute got Frankie Gunn to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 88 minutes Leões do Sul 53's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luís Eger who took care of the corner kick. Leões do Sul 53's Frankie Gunn proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Leões do Sul 53 from getting a goal against them. Christiano Barreto hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. After having played for 96 minutes, Michel Bagge managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tocantinópolis EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Michel Bagge was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Leões do Sul 53 fans cheered their team off the field, for while Tocantinópolis EC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
