With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dida Mesquita in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ian Melo saved Xanda FC from getting behind. Ian Melo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dida Mesquita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dida Mesquita in the 33rd minute of play forced Xanda FC's goalkeeper Ian Melo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 35th minute, Mikkel Lilleland ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ian Melo was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 37th minute, Mikkel Lilleland made a precise shot to the right of Ian Melo. Xanda FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. In the 40th minute, Mikkel Lilleland hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With an all-out effort, Xanda FC's Cléber Pinho threw himself towards the right post 44 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Norberto da Silva, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Xanda FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Umberto Martins in the 46th minute. After taking down the ball on Xanda FC's corner Umberto Martins fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Cléber Pinho quite easily take care of the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

If Dida Mesquita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ian Melo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mikkel Lilleland in the 55th minute of play. 57 minutes into the match, Xanda FC's goalkeeper Ian Melo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dida Mesquita. Ian Melo made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Dida Mesquita sent off a good shot on target. Dida Mesquita succeeded in the game's 61st minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-4. When the match had gone on for 66 minutes, Dida Mesquita put it in 0-5 from a short distance just to the right of Ian Melo. Through an outstanding action, after 68 minutes, Ian Melo successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Paysandu's Mikkel Lilleland got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ian Melo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dida Mesquita, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Diogo Andrade's late challenge caught a Paysandu's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
