Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mário Saldanha to make the kick off. Palmeira's supporters crossed their fingers, but Raphael Severo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Fábio Torres managed to get in a good position for a shot. Saiko FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Fábio Torres was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ediberto Rossi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 92nd match minute, Palmeira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Isak Okoronkwo to maneuver through the defense. Ediberto Rossi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eliseu Fonseca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Saiko FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Walmir Garcia in the 95th minute. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Palmeira's goalie and right to Fábio Torres. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Palmeira's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Palmeira played a much better game than Saiko FC and deserved their victory. The Saiko FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
