In the 4th match minute, Caneleiros FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chico Silva to maneuver through the defense. In the 5thth minute of the game Ian Amaral who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Caneleiros FC's Marcus Dias was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Marcus Dias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcelo Paiva in the 9th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Aníbal Marquez in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dieguinho Nunes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 14 minutes into the game, G A I A's Marcelo Maia nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marcus Dias made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Duarte Arantes kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Teodoro Carioca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Dieguinho Nunes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 22 minutes into the match, Caneleiros FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ian Amaral came free, but Marcus Dias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 24 minutes, Frederico de Castro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the G A I A and the Caneleiros FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Caneleiros FC booed when G A I A was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frederico de Castro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcus Dias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ian Amaral in the 29th minute of play. Gilmar Cruz kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Dieguinho Nunes was a little too slow when Aníbal Marquez got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 32nd minute. The score was now 1-2. The supporters of G A I A booed when Caneleiros FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Serginho Carneiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcus Dias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hugo Lopez in the 37th minute of play. Caneleiros FC's Marcus Dias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ian Amaral in the 39th minute of play. Frederico de Castro hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Tarcisio Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Caneleiros FC's Marcus Dias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ian Amaral in the 46th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hugo Lopez to make the kick off. With an all-out effort, G A I A's Marcus Dias threw himself towards the right post 55 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ian Amaral, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Gilmar Cruz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Marcus Dias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dieguinho Nunes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aníbal Marquez, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. After 65 minutes G A I A's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ronaldão de Barros who took care of the corner kick. In the 66th match minute, G A I A was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hugo Lopez to maneuver through the defense. Hugo Lopezs short, quick shot in the 72ndth minute got Marcus Dias to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 96th minute Teodoro Carioca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dieguinho Nunes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The G A I A supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing G A I A would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
