The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jaime Almeida showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fausto Senna in the 4th minute of the match. In the 6th minute Cristiano Messi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Isaltino Couto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 7 minutes into the match, Corinthians's goalkeeper Jaime Almeida had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Enéas Carneiro. Isaltino Couto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristiano Messi, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. The throw-in from Moisés Linhares in the 15th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Corinthians's Kiril Biradzhiev. Jaime Almeida made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Maurício Rodrigues sent off a good shot on target. Fausto Senna's late challenge caught a Corinthians's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fausto Senna helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Danone CC's Fausto Senna got a free kick in the 18th minute. In the 19th minute Cristiano Messi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Isaltino Couto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Danone CC's Isaltino Couto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristiano Messi in the 22nd minute of play. A sloppy throw-in by Moisés Linhares in the 23rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Corinthians's Leopoldo Palmeira. In the 27th minute Fausto Senna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaime Almeida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 40th minute Diguinho Teles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaime Almeida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jeremias Velloso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Jaime Almeida tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Diguinho Teles got free with Jaime Almeida in the 48th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Diguinho Teles made a kick off. 52 minutes in the game Moisés Linhares did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Carlos Alberto Sá. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kiril Biradzhiev during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Danone CC booed when Corinthians was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kiril Biradzhiev didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jeremias Velloso took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jaime Almeida. Jaime Almeida dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. In the 59th minute, Chris Mas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Moisés Linhares made in the 71st minute of the game a quick throw-in and Carlos Alberto Sá immediately put the ball in play. Isaltino Couto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ignacy Kinic, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. 74 minutes into the match, Danone CC's goalkeeper Isaltino Couto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristiano Messi. Isaltino Couto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristiano Messi in the 75th minute. In the 77th minute, Cristiano Messi made a precise shot to the right of Isaltino Couto. Danone CC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. After a rather tough play, Danone CC's Moisés Linhares got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Corinthians's Rubinho de Lara was substituted for Ignacy Kinic. Corinthians's José Vítor Ramos was substituted for Cristiano Messi. Danone CC made a substitution. Oséas Chaves replaced Geovanni de Alcântara. After a defensive mix-up in Danone CC's zone, José Vítor Ramos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Isaltino Couto came out of the goal and José Vítor Ramos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Moisés Linhares fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Danone CC's protests and gave Moisés Linhares a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Danone CC getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Moisés Linhares hit a great ball. When Maurício Rodrigues came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Danone CC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maurício Rodrigues couldn't finish the play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Corinthians eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
