When Valdo Prado came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Leon Sport Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Valdo Prado couldn't finish the play. In the 21st minute, Remigio Finlay ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Clóvis Reis was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 27th minute Remigio Finlay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Clóvis Reis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 32nd minute, Remigio Finlay left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The AA GUARULHOS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Carlinhos Freitas made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Valdo Prado sent off a good shot on target. In the 42nd minute Remigio Finlay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Clóvis Reis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jacobo Porfirio made a great header on AA GUARULHOS's corner, it was just that Leon Sport Club's Clóvis Reis managed to reach the ball for a save. Jonathan Mandrak kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Carlinhos Freitas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Valdo Prado in the 48th minute.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jon Loarte stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Remigio Finlay's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Clóvis Reis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. Carlinhos Freitas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valdo Prado in the 53rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, AA GUARULHOS's José Augusto Viana got a free kick in the 55th minute. After a defensive mix-up in AA GUARULHOS's zone, Giovanni Massa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlinhos Freitas came out of the goal and Giovanni Massa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Remigio Finlay in the 58th minute of play forced Leon Sport Club's goalkeeper Clóvis Reis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Leon Sport Club's Giovanni Massa got a free kick in the 59th minute. A collision led to AA GUARULHOS getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Edgar Chaves hit a great ball. Leon Sport Club made a substitution. Wesley Sønck replaced Jon Loarte. After a rather tough play, AA GUARULHOS's Edgar Chaves got a free kick in the 62nd minute. 71 minutes into the match, AA GUARULHOS's goal looked a bit too open when Oswaldo Talavera came free, but Carlinhos Freitas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as AA GUARULHOS's Remigio Finlay slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Clóvis Reis. That made the score 0-4 after 73 minutes of play. In the 76th minute Wesley Sønck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlinhos Freitas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leon Sport Club made a substitution. Davi Alexandridis replaced Giovanni Massa. After a defensive mix-up in AA GUARULHOS's zone, Davi Alexandridis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlinhos Freitas came out of the goal and Davi Alexandridis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With an all-out effort, AA GUARULHOS's Clóvis Reis threw himself towards the right post 83 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Remigio Finlay, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Carlinhos Freitas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valdo Prado in the 84th minute of play. AA GUARULHOS were awarded a corner in the 87th minute after Leon Sport Club's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jacobo Porfirio took the corner. After 88 played minutes AA GUARULHOS got a freekick which was hit by Lance Cabezas. The free kick made by AA GUARULHOS's Lance Cabezas led to a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. AA GUARULHOS's Carlinhos Freitas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oswaldo Talavera in the 90th minute of play. With his leg Clóvis Reis managed to avoid a goal in the 92ndth minute, when AA GUARULHOS's Remigio Finlay fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched AA GUARULHOS eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
