Cássio Corinth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Red John S.K getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Caetano Reyo hit a great ball. After 25 minutes Jenipapo SC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Denílson Lopes who took care of the corner kick. The audience was convinced that Aníbal Alagoano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cássio Corinth was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. Ingvar Strand might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over David Seaman. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ingvar Strand was the one to do the kick off. A well-hit corner resulted in Enrico Maestri heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Isa Günyol fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Seaman having to interfere. Red John S.K's Cássio Corinth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vinicio Junior in the 79th minute of play. In the 81st minute of the match Jenipapo SC got a corner. Red John S.K's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Arsenio Gipuzkoa ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Red John S.K's goalie and right to Zé Carlos Monteiro. Red John S.K's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal.
