The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rogelio Urtungo got free with Vicente Guimarães in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Orlando da Cunha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maicon Palmeira in the 11th minute of play. In the 16th minute Maicon Palmeira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Orlando da Cunha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geovani Mendonça in the 17th minute of play forced Garopaba F.C's goalkeeper Orlando da Cunha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 20 minutes of play, E. C. Uruguaiana's Maicon Palmeira made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Orlando da Cunha was left in no man's land by his defense there! Garopaba F.C's Orlando da Cunha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Geovani Mendonça in the 22nd minute of play. Uruguaiana could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Garopaba F.C throughout the match.
