José Furlan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Renan Melo having to interfere. After 46 played minutes Ypiranga FC got a freekick which was hit by Silvano Chepe. When Francisco Secco came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the A.A. Francana fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Francisco Secco couldn't finish the play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. José Furlan was the one to do the kick off. Ypiranga FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 51st minute, when Charlie Boström scored to the left of an out of position Petre Porumboiu, making the score, 1-2. In the 54th minute Charlie Boström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Petre Porumboiu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ypiranga FC's Petre Porumboiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roman Koenig in the 56th minute of play. In the 56th minute of the match, Roman Koenig tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Petre Porumboiu saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 61 minutes into the match, A.A. Francana's goal looked a bit too open when Gică Leucuța came free, but Renan Melo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With an all-out effort, A.A. Arlindo Meireles was slow to take the kick. During this time Ypiranga FC's players had a chance to rest. Luizinho Veiga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Renan Melo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Charlie Boström made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 75thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Petre Porumboiu would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. When José Furlan fell near the penalty area in the 93rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ypiranga FC's protests and gave José Furlan a yellow card for diving instead. In the 93rd match minute, Ypiranga FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Furlan to maneuver through the defense. In the 95th minute, Dorival Dantas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
