The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Fausto Delle Donne made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ramiro Maldonado in the 4th minute of play. Douglas Haig's Fausto Delle Donne played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Saul Corderun in the 5th minute of play. 7 minutes had been played when some careless play by Douglas Haig's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Pastor Elodio was slow to take the kick. During this time Tipal's players had a chance to rest. Leonardo Abella sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice moves Leonardo Abella could shoot a difficult shot in the 11th minute, which Florentino Iago however easily saved by the left post. Douglas Haig's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Cecilio Garci in the 13th minute. Douglas Haig's Cecilio Garci was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Florentino Iago in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. When Saul Corderun fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tipal's protests and gave Saul Corderun a yellow card for diving instead. Elpidio Modestio's late challenge caught a Tipal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Elpidio Modestio helped the player get up and apologised. Elpidio Modestio kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. Fausto Delle Donne showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Saul Corderun, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Leonardo Abella's late challenge caught a Tipal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leonardo Abella helped the player get up and apologised. The referee felt a red card was in order, 23 minutes into the game, when Prospero Avellaneda put in a rough tackle. After having played for 29 minutes, Maximo Perez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Douglas Haig's supporters crossed their fingers, but Maximo Perez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Maximo Perez came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Douglas Haig fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maximo Perez couldn't finish the play. Douglas Haig's Fausto Delle Donne played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Saul Corderun in the 31st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Tipal's zone, Leonardo Abella stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Florentino Iago came out of the goal and Leonardo Abella tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tipal's Florentino Iago proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Tipal from getting a goal against them. Maximo Perez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Florentino Iago tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Maximo Perez might have been able to make a better finish in the 48th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Florentino Iago. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Maximo Perez ran back to his position shaking his head. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Isaias Loren to make the kick off. If Leonardo Abella had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Maximo Perez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Florentino Iago tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Maximo Perez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Florentino Iago read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Erasmo Manny managed to get in a good position for a shot. Douglas Haig's supporters rose to their feet, but Erasmo Manny was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Florentino Iago breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Maximo Perez might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Florentino Iago. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Maximo Perez ran back to his position shaking his head. If Leonardo Abella had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Douglas Haig's Gervasio Jago in 77 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Florentino Iago guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. In the 79th minute Isaias Loren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fausto Delle Donne saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 80th minute, Elpidio Modestio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fausto Delle Donne was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Pastor Elodio. The crowd rose to their feet as Tipal's Ramiro Maldonado slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Fausto Delle Donne. That made the score 0-1 after 95 minutes of play. The Douglas Haig manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Tipal to win.
