The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Traful AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Florencio Curcio came free, but Patricio Kelemen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Nueva Chicago booed when Traful AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Venancio Fraco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Florencio Curcio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Florencio Curcio might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Patricio Kelemen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Florencio Curcio ran back to his position shaking his head. Florencio Curcio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patricio Kelemen having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Artemio Argina in the 19th minute of play forced Nueva Chicago's goalkeeper Salvador Ferrando to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Traful AFC getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Ciro Ponc hit a great ball. Lorenzo Firme hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Florencio Curcio in the 33rd minute of play forced Traful AFC's goalkeeper Patricio Kelemen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gonzalo Osmundo charged in rather forcefully in the 34th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Florencio Curcio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 56 minutes, Artemio Argina managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Traful AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Artemio Argina was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jacinto Ruy hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Traful AFC's Roberto Haritz couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 59th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Nueva Chicago. Lino Jerrold's late challenge caught a Nueva Chicago's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lino Jerrold helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Traful AFC getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Lino Jerrold hit a great ball. In the 66th minute, Artemio Argina ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Salvador Ferrando was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After 70 minutes, Elpidio Mateo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Traful AFC and the Nueva Chicago players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 73rd match minute, Traful AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lino Jerrold to maneuver through the defense. In the 89th minute, Artemio Argina made a precise shot to the right of Salvador Ferrando. Nueva Chicago's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Artemio Argina sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lino Jerrold recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Traful AFC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Nueva Chicago had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
