The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Zeledon Clis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edgardo Thomas, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Anselmo Lizar kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. 10 minutes into the match, Edgardo Thomas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zeledon Clis. Club A. River Plate's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edgardo Thomas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Iker Dolcet took the ball and in the 14 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Zeledon Clis. Zeledon Clis dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. 21 minutes into the match, Club A. River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Dionisio Amaya came free, but Zeledon Clis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Club A. River Plate's Cornelio Abadie got a free kick in the 22nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Club A. River Plate's zone, Edgardo Thomas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zeledon Clis came out of the goal and Edgardo Thomas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edgardo Thomas in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Zeledon Clis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to La Vecchia Signora getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Albano Bartuelo hit a great ball. In the 35th minute, Dionisio Amaya made a precise shot to the right of Zeledon Clis. Club A. River Plate's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Edgardo Thomas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Iker Dolcet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dionisio Amaya in the 42nd minute of play forced Club A. River Plate's goalkeeper Zeledon Clis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 44 minutes into the game, Edgardo Thomas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Zeledon Clis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Club A. River Plate's Zeledon Clis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edgardo Thomas in the 48th minute of play. The Club A. River Plate players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. La Vecchia Signora were winning 0-4.

Zeledon Clis stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edgardo Thomas's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. Dionisio Amaya sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 59 minutes into the match, Club A. River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Edgardo Thomas came free, but Zeledon Clis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Dionisio Amaya managed to get in a good position for a shot. La Vecchia Signora's supporters rose to their feet, but Dionisio Amaya was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zeledon Clis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Edgardo Thomas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Iker Dolcet received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Zeledon Clis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 70 played minutes Club A. River Plate got a freekick which was hit by Javier Hernando. Iker Dolcet fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zeledon Clis having to interfere. If Dionisio Amaya had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of La Vecchia Signora booed when Club A. River Plate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dario Cheche didn't get a good kick on the ball. Zeledon Clis was a little too slow when Iker Dolcet got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 84th minute. The score was now 0-5. Edgardo Thomas's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 93rdth minute, Zeledon Clis skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal.
