Domingo Alonso's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Melquiades Firme read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. Benito Garaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Melquiades Firme having to interfere. Benito Garaona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Melquiades Firme tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Benito Garaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 35 minutes, Benito Garaona put it in 1-4 from a short distance just to the right of Melquiades Firme. In the 43rd minute, Benito Garaona got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Rumioj AFC's Gregorio Firme got a free kick in the 46th minute. After the first half River Play were leading 1-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gregorio Firme during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Rumioj AFC getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Gregorio Firme hit a great ball. In the 57th match minute, Rumioj AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodolfo Berdoi to maneuver through the defense. After 58 minutes of play Rumioj AFC's Gregorio Firme was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Benito Garaona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Melquiades Firme tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 64th minute, Roque Roland hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. River Play's Achille Cacciatore played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Narciso Bilbo in the 70th minute of play. If Narciso Bilbo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Achille Cacciatore took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Narciso Bilbo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 81st minute, Benito Garaona reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Melquiades Firme. The goal made the score 1-5. Melquiades Firme was a little too slow when Domingo Alonso got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 84th minute. The score was now 1-6. In the 88th minute, Lisandro Mundo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benito Garaona struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Melquiades Firme didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River Play. Jesus Prejun was extremely unlucky when he, in the 91st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Anastasio Niguel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Rumioj AFC's zone, Benito Garaona stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Melquiades Firme came out of the goal and Benito Garaona tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the final whistle sounded River Play left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Rumioj AFC.
