The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Erasmo Colas might have been able to make a better finish in the 3rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ermegildo Caetano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Erasmo Colas ran back to his position shaking his head. After some careless play in the Garcia Neivirt defense, Rosendo Goiz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ermegildo Caetano. The Garcia Neivirt fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ermegildo Caetano should have stopped the shot. Serafin Indartsu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Romulo Paublo in the 13th minute of play. Clodoveo Iratze could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Serafin Indartsu made a huge save. Rosendo Goiz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ermegildo Caetano having to interfere. Ermegildo Caetano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erasmo Colas, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Erasmo Colas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ermegildo Caetano having to interfere. 27 minutes into the match, Vélez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Serafin Indartsu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fernando Dominguez. Benigno Toribio kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Gualterio Ricart's late challenge caught a Vélez Sarsfield's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gualterio Ricart helped the player get up and apologised. In the 31st minute, Gualterio Ricart hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Fernando Dominguez came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Garcia Neivirt fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fernando Dominguez couldn't finish the play. In the 34th minute Erasmo Colas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ermegildo Caetano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ermegildo Caetano came out of the goal in the 34th minute to try and stop a shot by Vélez Sarsfield's Erasmo Colas. But to his dismay, Erasmo Colas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. 38 minutes into the match, Garcia Neivirt's goal looked a bit too open when Rodrigo Maju came free, but Ermegildo Caetano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Rosendo Goiz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ermegildo Caetano was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Erasmo Colas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vélez Sarsfield's supporters rose to their feet, but Erasmo Colas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Romulo Paublo to strike the kick off in the second half. A well placed Rosendo Goiz short distance shot in the 54th minute ended with a hard ball which without a chance for the goalkeeper went staright up into the goalkeepers left cross. Erasmo Colas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ermegildo Caetano having to interfere. In the 59thth minute of the game Rosendo Goiz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Garcia Neivirt's Ermegildo Caetano was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Vélez Sarsfield's Rosendo Goiz in the 59th minute got a chance for a shot 59th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Ermegildo Caetano yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-5. The tension between the Vélez Sarsfield and the Garcia Neivirt players grew even worse after the yellow card. Fernando Dominguez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Serafin Indartsu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Garcia Neivirt's Isidro Hechter got a free kick in the 82nd minute. The audience was convinced that Rosendo Goiz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ermegildo Caetano was relentless in the 83rd minute of the game. Ruperto Criston hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Romulo Paublo in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Serafin Indartsu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 88th minute Rosendo Goiz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ermegildo Caetano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ermegildo Caetano was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 97th minute the ball was on its way in behind Garcia Neivirt's goalkeeper Ermegildo Caetano, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rosendo Goiz might have been able to make a better finish in the 98th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ermegildo Caetano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rosendo Goiz ran back to his position shaking his head. Clodoveo Iratze kicked well hit freekick during the 98th minute of the match. Vélez Sarsfield's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
