An unexpectedly hard shot by Wen Feng Xiong in the 17th minute of play forced Congreso's goalkeeper Saul Bernaldo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jo Fernandez made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Paulo Cerilo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Saul Bernaldo. Congreso's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Paulo Cerilo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. In the 55th match minute, Congreso was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jo Fernandez to maneuver through the defense. Saul Bernaldo was out of position in the 59 minute of play, and Vasile Isbășoiu capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Vasile Isbășoiu really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. Congreso's Saul Bernaldo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Congreso from getting a goal against them. Saul Bernaldo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Vasile Isbășoiu went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-6 was the resulting score. 78 minutes into the match, Congreso's goalkeeper Saul Bernaldo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wen Feng Xiong. Teo Osoro hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Congreso's zone, Wen Feng Xiong stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Saul Bernaldo came out of the goal and Wen Feng Xiong tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 84th minute Vasile Isbășoiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Saul Bernaldo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 85 minutes into the match, Congreso's goal looked a bit too open when Vasile Isbășoiu came free, but Saul Bernaldo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Saul Bernaldo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulo Cerilo in the 89th minute of the match. In the 90th minute of the match, Wen Feng Xiong got a very nice opportunity to score, but Saul Bernaldo was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Stewart Dyson hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. When the final whistle sounded Areco Futbol Club left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Congreso.
