After 15 played minutes, Gimnasia de La Plata's Nemesio Valente shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Timoteo Ovando came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Gimnasia de La Plata reached it. During the 16th minute of the match Gogo Aznar completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Gogo Aznar a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 22nd minute Guillermo Milian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Timoteo Ovando saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gimnasia de La Plata's goalkeeper Domingos Rozarius, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Los Romperredes getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Erubiel Kepa hit a great ball. 31 minutes into the match, Los Romperredes's goal looked a bit too open when Aquilino Sasoin came free, but Timoteo Ovando reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Timoteo Ovando showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eustaquio Brion, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. After the first half Gimnasia de La Plata were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Aquilino Sasoin stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice moves Guillermo Milian could shoot a difficult shot in the 64th minute, which Timoteo Ovando however easily saved by the left post. Vinicio Bartuelo scored 1-3 in the 72nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Domingos Rozarius, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Los Romperredes's attentive Fabricio Furman managed to snatch the ball when Nemesio Valente made a throw-in in the 77th minute of the game. 81 minutes into the game, Anastasio Soter cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-4. Timoteo Ovando was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 84th minute, Gimnasia de La Plata's Aquilino Sasoin dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-5. After 90 minutes, Aquilino Sasoin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gimnasia de La Plata and the Los Romperredes players grew even worse after the yellow card.
