The supporters of Newells Old Boys booed when El Palomar FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adrian Maju didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Delmar Eduino during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 34th minute, Honorio Dantel sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Newells Old Boys's Aurelio Corderun didn't even have to move. 35 minutes into the game, Edelmiro Opilano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Newells Old Boys's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave El Palomar FC the free kick. After 35 played minutes Newells Old Boys got a freekick which was hit by Edelmiro Opilano. After some careless play in the Newells Old Boys defense, Ramon Guillelme kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aurelio Corderun. The Newells Old Boys fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aurelio Corderun should have stopped the shot. Ladislao Gorri blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Aurelio Corderun having to make a save. Ladislao Gorri recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ladislao Gorri's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aurelio Corderun read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Paulino Bernard to make the kick off. El Palomar FC's Alejandro Gonchan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulino Bernard in the 52nd minute of play. In the 53rd minute, Ramon Guillelme got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ladislao Gorri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aurelio Corderun having to interfere. In the 59th minute Jimeno Lorenz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alejandro Gonchan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to El Palomar FC getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Pedro Luar hit a great ball. In the 64th minute, Artemio Nesor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Ramon Guillelme managed to get in a good position for a shot. El Palomar FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ramon Guillelme was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aurelio Corderun breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 68 minutes in the game, Ramon Guillelme fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Aurelio Corderun having to interfere. When Newells Old Boys's Paulino Bernard in the 71st minute got a chance for a shot 71st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye El Palomar FC's goalie prevented a goal. After 74 played minutes El Palomar FC got a freekick which was hit by Baltasar Acuña. A nice corner shot did that Artemio Nesor got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Alejandro Gonchan quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Ramon Guillelme kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. If Ladislao Gorri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. During the 96th minute of the match Delmar Eduino completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Delmar Eduino a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After a rather tough play, Newells Old Boys's Delmar Eduino got a free kick in the 97th minute. With an all-out effort, El Palomar FC's Aurelio Corderun threw himself towards the right post 98 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ramon Guillelme, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Ramon Guillelme received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Aurelio Corderun came out and tried to block the shot, but Ramon Guillelme slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 99th minute.
