After a defensive mix-up in Excepcion's zone, Artemio Nesor stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Herminio Hats came out of the goal and Artemio Nesor tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eriberto Bixintxo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 16 played minutes Newells Old Boys got a freekick which was hit by Artemio Nesor. Paulino Bernard took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Herminio Hats. Herminio Hats dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. When Fidel Eli fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Newells Old Boys's protests and gave Fidel Eli a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Excepcion booed when Newells Old Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fidel Eli didn't get a good kick on the ball. Excepcion's Ramiro Raymon got his second yellow card of the match in the 27th minute. The referee ordered Ramiro Raymon off the ground. In the 28th match minute, Excepcion was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ramiro Raymon to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Excepcion booed when Newells Old Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tobias Lluis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eriberto Bixintxo did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-1 to the left of a surprised Aurelio Corderun 31 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Eriberto Bixintxo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Excepcion's supporters rose to their feet, but Eriberto Bixintxo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aurelio Corderun breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Excepcion's Eriberto Bixintxo got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Eriberto Bixintxo struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Aurelio Corderun didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Excepcion. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eriberto Bixintxo in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Aurelio Corderun prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Edelmiro Opilano charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edelmiro Opilano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 56 played minutes Newells Old Boys got a freekick which was hit by Edelmiro Opilano. In the 70th minute, Ubaldo Gitano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paulino Bernard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Herminio Hats tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 76 minutes, Clemente Bero mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Excepcion and the Newells Old Boys players grew even worse after the yellow card. With his leg Herminio Hats managed to avoid a goal in the 77thth minute, when Newells Old Boys's Jimeno Lorenz fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Eriberto Bixintxo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aurelio Corderun having to interfere. Aurelio Corderun came out of the goal in the 97th minute to try and stop a shot by Excepcion's Gualterio Hermelando. But to his dismay, Gualterio Hermelando quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-2. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Excepcion had played much better football throughout.
