After a defensive mix-up in Tacuara's zone, Jacobo Evis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ramiro Rodas came out of the goal and Jacobo Evis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tacuara's Ramiro Rodas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Tacuara from getting a goal against them. Marciano Josephs short, quick shot in the 14thth minute got Ramiro Rodas to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leo Ramone in the 16th minute of play forced C.A.River Plate's goalkeeper Nestor Mateo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. C.A.River Plate's Nestor Mateo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leo Ramone in the 17th minute of play. 18 minutes into the match, Tacuara's goal looked a bit too open when Fernan Urko came free, but Ramiro Rodas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nestor Mateo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leo Ramone, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. After having played for 41 minutes, Fernan Urko managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C.A.River Plate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fernan Urko was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. C.A.River Plate's Zeledon Meder got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 46th minute Fernan Urko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ramiro Rodas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 47 played minutes Tacuara got a freekick which was hit by Leo Ramone.

In the 54th minute of the match Zeledon Meder sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ramiro Rodas skillfully saved the ball. When Jacobo Evis fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C.A.River Plate's protests and gave Jacobo Evis a yellow card for diving instead. After 55 played minutes C.A.River Plate got a freekick which was hit by Jacobo Evis. C.A.River Plate's Nestor Mateo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save C.A.River Plate from getting a goal against them. Nestor Mateo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Armando Hernando in the 90th minute. For all the effort they put into the match, the Tacuara players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for C.A.River Plate.
