The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ariel Abarca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Horacio Umea, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Mariano Gilen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hermengildo Eguzki having to interfere. 18 minutes into the game, Froilan Dolfo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Huanguelén's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mataderos the free kick. Calle Halfvarsson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Ariel Abarca made a huge save. Ariel Abarca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Siro Ignado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Santo Marino charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Santo Marino the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Mataderos's Santo Marino got a free kick in the 26th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Siro Ignado managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mataderos's supporters rose to their feet, but Siro Ignado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ariel Abarca breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ariel Abarca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Markus Siegenthaler in the 37th minute of play. 38 minutes into the match, Horacio Umea dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ariel Abarca, 3-0. A hard shot 44 in the game by Horacio Umea from a close distance when the talented Ariel Abarca managed to make a qualified save. Huanguelén's players were relieved. Huanguelén's Ariel Abarca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Siro Ignado in the 45th minute of play. When Tiburcio Gines came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Mataderos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tiburcio Gines couldn't finish the play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

In the 51st minute Siro Ignado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ariel Abarca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Siro Ignado managed to get in a good position for a shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ulises Quinton in the 76th minute of play forced Mataderos's goalkeeper Hermengildo Eguzki to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tiburcio Gines struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Ariel Abarca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mataderos. Horacio Umea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ariel Abarca having to interfere. Tiburcio Gines took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ariel Abarca. Ariel Abarca dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. Siro Ignado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Siro Ignado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ariel Abarca having to interfere.
