The audience was convinced that Fernando Ponciano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mauricio Gimenez was relentless in the 6th minute of the game. After 11 played minutes Tacurales got a freekick which was hit by Astor Jerardo. Eulalio Barros was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 11th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fernando Ponciano in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mauricio Gimenez saved Tacurales from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eulalio Barros in the 24th minute of play forced Tacurales's goalkeeper Mauricio Gimenez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 28thth minute of the game Fernando Ponciano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tacurales's Mauricio Gimenez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Tacurales's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Fernando Ponciano 30 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. Oscar Frederik kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fernando Ponciano in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mauricio Gimenez saved Tacurales from getting behind. 47 minutes into the game, Fernando Ponciano cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Mauricio Gimenez was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fernando Ponciano was the one to do the kick off. Tacurales's Mauricio Gimenez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Ponciano in the 54th minute of play. Mauricio Gimenez came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by Club Atletico River Plate's Eulalio Barros. But to his dismay, Eulalio Barros quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Astor Jerardo hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Gaudencio Chale got a throw-in 67 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Bernardas Gabšys. Mauricio Gimenez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernando Ponciano in the 69th minute of play. The supporters of Club Atletico River Plate booed when Tacurales was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernardas Gabšys didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 74th minute, Tacurales's Astor Jerardo seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Astor Jerardo the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Tacurales protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Astor Jerardo had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 73 minutes into the game, one of Tacurales:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernando Ponciano in the 80th minute of play forced Tacurales's goalkeeper Mauricio Gimenez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 81st minute Club Atletico River Plate were awarded a corner. Eulalio Barros went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Club Atletico River Plate's corner Eulalio Barros fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Mauricio Gimenez quite easily take care of the ball. Fernando Ponciano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mauricio Gimenez came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Club Atletico River Plate's Eulalio Barros. But to his dismay, Eulalio Barros quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. If Eulalio Barros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 7-0 became the score in the 94th minute when Fernando Ponciano elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Club Atletico River Plate walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
