Casimiro Gonsalvo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bernardino Lastur went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. If Jonas Dei had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 26 minutes into the match, Independiente's Bernardino Lastur sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Casimiro Gonsalvo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Casimiro Gonsalvo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ciriaco Bernad in the 28th minute of play. In the 30th minute of the match Independiente got a corner. Ruta Ocho's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gabriel Franco ran over to the corner to take the kick. The supporters of Ruta Ocho booed when Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernardino Lastur didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eloy Silbestre showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Osvaldo Tonete in the 41st minute of the match. Independiente's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Osvaldo Tonete 44 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Osvaldo Tonete made the kick off in the second half. Joel Aguirre recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Eloy Silbestre didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Joel Aguirre went, in the 79th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Bernardino Lastur sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
