Racing Club's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave El Charrua FC the free kick. After 10 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Racing Club! Leandro Baladi placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! After 16 minutes, Jaime Sandalio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the El Charrua FC and the Racing Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Racing Club booed when El Charrua FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jaime Sandalio didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leandro Baladi during the 34th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Racing Club's Froilan Bemabe was substituted for Severiano Fero. Eleuterio Henric fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rigoberto Marques having to interfere. 45 minutes into the match, Racing Club's goal looked a bit too open when Arturo Victoro came free, but Rigoberto Marques reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half El Charrua FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Beloslav Paskalev was the one to do the kick off. Arturo Victoro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. El Charrua FC's Rodrigo Orzaize played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Haroldo Rocio in the 59th minute of play. In the 62nd minute, Beloslav Paskalev left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Racing Club fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. In the 65th match minute, Racing Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Orlando Fiz to maneuver through the defense. Arturo Victoro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rigoberto Marques having to interfere. After 77 minutes, Maximino Joseph mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Racing Club and the El Charrua FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Rodrigo Orzaize came out of the goal and Haroldo Rocio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 95th minute Haroldo Rocio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodrigo Orzaize saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. El Charrua FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
