Celestino Koldo was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Adrian Venceslas. When Hernan Eneto fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored chacarita's protests and gave Hernan Eneto a yellow card for diving instead. After 31 played minutes chacarita got a freekick which was hit by Hernan Eneto. 41 minutes into the match, chacarita's goal looked a bit too open when Victor Erruki came free, but Damian Peru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Alfonso Urbez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Racing Club de Avellaneda's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfonso Urbez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Damian Peru breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 46th minute Alfonso Urbez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Damian Peru saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Alfonso Urbez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 49th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Javier Galtero stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Celestino Koldo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ovidio Tiadoro in the 54th minute of play. Damian Peru made an important save on a dangerous shot by Victor Erruki in the 65th minute. Victor Erruki received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Damian Peru tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 68th minute, Reynaldo Rosalio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 69 minutes, Victor Erruki managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Racing Club de Avellaneda's supporters crossed their fingers, but Victor Erruki was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alfonso Urbez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Damian Peru tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 77 minutes into the match, Racing Club de Avellaneda's Alfonso Urbez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Damian Peru narrowly saved just below the crossbar. chacarita's Damian Peru proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save chacarita from getting a goal against them. In the 82nd minute, Javier Galtero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
