Eugenio Nardo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnulfo Urko in the 25th minute of play. Ignacio Tipi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eugenio Nardo having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Demetrio Sánchez in the 32nd minute of play forced Zaire's goalkeeper Eugenio Nardo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Demetrio Sánchez was extremely unlucky when he, in the 36th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 38th minute, Demetrio Sánchez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Zaire's Gaudencio Pio got a free kick in the 97th minute. Jaime Bastia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 98th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
