After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Placido Efraim managed to get in a good position for a shot. N.S.R's supporters rose to their feet, but Placido Efraim was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcelo Xacintu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Salvador Jurgi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sergio Quilo in the 45th minute of play. In the 46th minute, Gregorio Restu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Varela AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
