If Santo Chano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Piñero's Patricio Umbruso got control of the ball when Santo Chano tried to sneak it across the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eusebio Botello in the 21st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Genaro Javiero prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Emanuel Lico had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Salinas AFC's zone, Eusebio Botello stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Genaro Javiero came out of the goal and Eusebio Botello tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Eusebio Botello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edgard Xabier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Genaro Javiero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Genaro Javiero showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eusebio Botello, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. After 39 played minutes, Piñero's Mateo Diagur shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Genaro Javiero came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Piñero reached it. A collision led to Piñero getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Eusebio Botello hit a great ball. The long shot by Javier Romildo in the 42nd minute really tested Patricio Umbruso's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Casimiro Erasto made a kick off. Eusebio Botello struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Genaro Javiero didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Piñero. Emanuel Lico fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Genaro Javiero having to interfere. Eusebio Botello recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Eusebio Botello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mateo Diagur during the 65th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 65th match minute, Piñero was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mateo Diagur to maneuver through the defense. The referee showed Artemio Su the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Despite being the better team, Piñero failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
