Eleuterio Obano hit a great ball. With a little luck, Racing Club's Bryan Sledge got control of the ball when Fausto Rubio tried to sneak it across the goal line. Esteban Silvino charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Esteban Silvino the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Wilfredo Sansone during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Bryan Sledge made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ladislao Herena in the 45th minute of play. 47 minutes into the match, Racing Club's goal looked a bit too open when Ezequiel Frantzes came free, but Bryan Sledge reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half Racing Club were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Nereo Shepherd received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Rolando Indartsu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 65th minute, Justino Laurin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Ladislao Herena's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bryan Sledge was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. The supporters of Puerta booed when Racing Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stefan Georgescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 74th minute, Ladislao Herena made a precise shot to the right of Bryan Sledge. Racing Club's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Maximiliano Enaut struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Rolando Indartsu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Racing Club. In the 97th minute, Racing Club's Stefan Georgescu seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Stefan Georgescu the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Racing Club protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Stefan Georgescu had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 96 minutes into the game, one of Racing Club:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 99th minute there was a penalty for Puerta. Cesar Aguilera stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Bryan Sledge. 3-1. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Puerta fans cheered their team off the field, for while Racing Club had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
