To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Anchorena's Ciriaco Ereinotz got control of the ball when Dante Ladio tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Rayo vallecano getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Benito Ebardo hit a great ball. Bonifacio Oton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Ciriaco Ereinotz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rayo vallecano's Teobaldo Loramendi got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dante Ladio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Ciriaco Ereinotz made a huge save. 42 minutes had been played when some careless play by Anchorena's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Dante Ladio was slow to take the kick. During this time Rayo vallecano's players had a chance to rest. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Gilbert Budrewicz advanced and headed the ball into goal, 1-0 in the 42nd minute. Rayo vallecano's Zacarias Cidro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anier Peru in the 46th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Modesto Benvide made a kick off. A collision led to Rayo vallecano getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Carolo Chumo hit a great ball. After 55 minutes, Miguel Remicio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rayo vallecano and the Anchorena players grew even worse after the yellow card. Dante Ladio might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ciriaco Ereinotz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dante Ladio ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dante Ladio in the 87th minute of play forced Anchorena's goalkeeper Ciriaco Ereinotz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
