Independiente's German Urbasa got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 6th minute Santos Petrigai shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cornelio Bingen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jorge Salomone kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Gaston Luken managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pehuajó's supporters rose to their feet, but Gaston Luken was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cornelio Bingen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 12th minute, Gaston Luken got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Independiente's Cornelio Bingen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Santos Petrigai in the 14th minute of play. Modesto Bilbo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cornelio Bingen having to interfere. German Urbasa struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Honorio Nuno didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Independiente. Independiente's Dante Unai got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Independiente's German Urbasa got a free kick in the 26th minute. Ivan Obeko was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 33 minutes into the match. After 32 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Independiente! The referee gave Pehuajó a penalty, 35 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Evelio Rocendo, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Independiente's Cornelio Bingen. 0-1. 38 minutes into the match, Pehuajó's goalkeeper Honorio Nuno had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dante Unai. In the 41st minute, Dante Unai got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dante Unai struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Honorio Nuno didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Independiente. Artemio Chumo hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dante Unai made a kick off. Cornelio Bingen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ciro Abeita in the 54th minute. Cornelio Bingen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Santos Petrigai, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. If Santos Petrigai had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 62 minutes into the match, Enrique Osasun had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Honorio Nuno. Pehuajó's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Enrique Osasun was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 71st minute the ball was on its way in behind Pehuajó's goalkeeper Honorio Nuno, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Independiente's attentive German Urbasa managed to snatch the ball when Artemio Chumo made a throw-in in the 79th minute of the game. Honorio Nuno showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dante Unai, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. 82 minutes into the game, German Urbasa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Independiente's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pehuajó the free kick. The supporters of Pehuajó booed when Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. German Urbasa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dante Unai scored 2-1 in the 85th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Honorio Nuno, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Dante Unai fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Honorio Nuno having to interfere. After having played for 90 minutes, Dante Unai managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Independiente's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dante Unai was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 95th minute Esteban Berenguer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cornelio Bingen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Pehuajó players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Independiente.
