Filomeno Favila's late challenge caught a Iguazú FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Filomeno Favila helped the player get up and apologised. After 15 played minutes Almafuerte got a freekick which was hit by Filomeno Favila. Lino Francis shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Cleto Salvino showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorge Monteiro in the 32nd minute of the match. Nestor Tartalo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Cleto Salvino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jorge Monteiro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cleto Salvino having to make a save. Cleto Salvino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorge Monteiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The Almafuerte fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cleto Salvino should have stopped the shot. In the 62nd match minute, Almafuerte was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arturo Feliu to maneuver through the defense. Cleto Salvino made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Jorge Monteiro sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arturo Feliu in the 66th minute of play forced Iguazú FC's goalkeeper Alfonso Evangelista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Eriberto Guillem had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alfonso Evangelista showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arturo Feliu in the 91st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jorge Monteiro in the 92nd minute of play forced Almafuerte's goalkeeper Cleto Salvino to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Almafuerte getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Mauricio Clis hit a great ball. When Arturo Feliu was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 95 minutes had been played. The Almafuerte fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Iguazú FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
