After having played for 18 minutes, Iker Quintyn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Juegos esteban's supporters crossed their fingers, but Iker Quintyn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vicente Isadore made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iker Quintyn in the 20th minute of play. Lázaro Manex received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Vicente Isadore tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vicente Isadore made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Lázaro Manex sent off a good shot on target. Newells Old Boys's Vicente Isadore played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iker Quintyn in the 35th minute of play. Vicente Isadore showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iker Quintyn in the 39th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Astor Bazil during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 41st minute, Astor Bazil hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Juegos esteban's Filomeno Checa tried to score from far away in the 42nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 49 minutes into the match, Juegos esteban's Iker Quintyn sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Vicente Isadore narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vinicio Kaiet made a kick off. If Iker Quintyn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Astor Bazil kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Hipolito Eliazar's late challenge caught a Newells Old Boys's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hipolito Eliazar helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Newells Old Boys booed when Juegos esteban was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hipolito Eliazar didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 82nd minute Iker Quintyn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vicente Isadore saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Newells Old Boys defense, Lázaro Manex kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vicente Isadore. The Newells Old Boys fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vicente Isadore should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iker Quintyn in the 93rd minute of play forced Newells Old Boys's goalkeeper Vicente Isadore to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 96th minute, one of Newells Old Boys:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Newells Old Boys. The referee gave Juegos esteban a penalty, 98 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Filomeno Checa, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Newells Old Boys's Vicente Isadore. 2-0. For all the effort they put into the match, the Newells Old Boys players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Juegos esteban.
