Andres Fresco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armindo Seco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Andres Fresco was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After the first half Maribor were leading 1-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Benigno Loreto to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Leonel Tabor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Andres Fresco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Albano Mergildo in the 58th minute. If Benigno Loreto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in Serrezuela's zone, Armindo Seco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andres Fresco came out of the goal and Armindo Seco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Andres Fresco made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Armindo Seco sent off a good shot on target. Adolfo Savier hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Maribor made a substitution. Honorato Primo replaced Tomasz Nowakowski. Maribor made a substitution. Domingo Ignatius replaced Yu Yi. With a little luck, Serrezuela's Andres Fresco got control of the ball when Honorato Primo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Edgard Bero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benigno Loreto in the 98th minute of the match.
