With an all-out effort, Piratas's Tiburcio Azevedo threw himself towards the right post 15 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Edgard Boniel, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 16 minutes into the game, Vicente Fliz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club Perkins's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Piratas the free kick. If Silvano Marin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. Christian Mellbad sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Club Perkins's supporters crossed their fingers, but Christian Mellbad was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kauan Figueiredo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tiburcio Azevedo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. The Club Perkins fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tiburcio Azevedo should have stopped the shot.
