In the 11th match minute, Racing Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Baldomero Acuña to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alejo Eneas in the 13th minute of play forced Racing Club's goalkeeper Ildefonso Roderigo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristo Aguirre got free with Ildefonso Roderigo in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Racing Club's Ildefonso Roderigo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tobiasz Michalski in the 17th minute of play. Ildefonso Roderigo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ceferino Cordarrol in the 19th minute of play. 23 minutes into the match, Racing Club's goal looked a bit too open when Tobiasz Michalski came free, but Ildefonso Roderigo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 26 minutes, Ildefonso Roderigo successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tobiasz Michalski in the 28th minute of play forced Racing Club's goalkeeper Ildefonso Roderigo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 29 minutes into the match, Racing Club's goal looked a bit too open when Ceferino Cordarrol came free, but Ildefonso Roderigo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ramiro Iraunkor took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Danilo Uria, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 37th minute, Baldomero Acuña hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ceferino Cordarrol was the one to do the kick off. Ildefonso Roderigo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ceferino Cordarrol in the 51st minute of the match. In the 54th minute Ceferino Cordarrol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ildefonso Roderigo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Danilo Uria recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mário Valente received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Ildefonso Roderigo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Atletico Talleres's goalkeeper Ramiro Iraunkor, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 70th minute, Racing Club's Danilo Uria dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. After a rather tough play, Racing Club's Danilo Uria got a free kick in the 75th minute. After 81 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Racing Club! Ildefonso Roderigo had in the 84thth minute some difficulties stopping Alejo Eneas's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tobiasz Michalski in the 87th minute of play forced Racing Club's goalkeeper Ildefonso Roderigo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 89 minutes into the game, Xabi Neubert cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Ildefonso Roderigo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
