Leopoldo Guilabertus was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Benito Meder charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Benito Meder the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Benito Meder hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Leopoldo Guilabertus showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oscar Abadie in the 15th minute of the match. Newells Old Boys's Prospero Afonso got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, German Mon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bilisman's supporters rose to their feet, but German Mon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carsyn Maddern breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bilisman's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Oscar Abadie 28 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 3-0. If German Mon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 39th minute, Oscar Abadie reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Leopoldo Guilabertus. The goal made the score 4-0. With a little luck, Bilisman's Leopoldo Guilabertus got control of the ball when Emanuel Omero tried to sneak it across the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mario Tonete to make the kick off. Leopoldo Guilabertus stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Oscar Abadie's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. Mario Tonete charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mario Tonete the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Mario Tonete hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Oscar Abadie in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Leopoldo Guilabertus saved Bilisman from getting behind. When Prospero Afonso came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Newells Old Boys fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Prospero Afonso couldn't finish the play. 69 minutes into the match, Oscar Abadie had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Leopoldo Guilabertus. Bilisman's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Oscar Abadie was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mario Tonete in the 76th minute of play forced Newells Old Boys's goalkeeper Carsyn Maddern to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Newells Old Boys's Anastasio Enekoitz got a free kick in the 77th minute. The supporters of Bilisman booed when Newells Old Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anastasio Enekoitz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Newells Old Boys's Oscar Abadie got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Bilisman's zone, Oscar Abadie stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leopoldo Guilabertus came out of the goal and Oscar Abadie tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Celso Uhin during the 96th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Newells Old Boys booed when Bilisman was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Celso Uhin didn't get a good kick on the ball. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Newells Old Boys had played much better football throughout.
