In the 16th match minute, Estrella Roja was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Enrique Chepe to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Octavio Gagriel in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Honorato Gonsalvo saved Estrella Roja from getting behind. Octavio Gagriel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Honorato Gonsalvo having to interfere. After 25 minutes, Martin Gonzales mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Estrella Roja and the Terremoto Millonario players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Terremoto Millonario booed when Estrella Roja was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emilio Quintun didn't get a good kick on the ball. Placido Nuñez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Estrella Roja. The audience thought a goal was coming when Patricio Emesto got free with Placido Nuñez in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Martin Gonzales was shown his second yellow card after 76 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match.
