Higinio Bladi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edgardo Cugat, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. Atlético de Madrid's Higinio Bladi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edgardo Cugat in the 8th minute of play. Virgilio Sidro took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 9th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Higinio Bladi. Atlético de Madrid's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. José Carlos Pitta's late challenge caught a Claromeco's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. José Carlos Pitta helped the player get up and apologised. Higinio Bladi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edgardo Cugat in the 11th minute of play. In the 12th minute, Florentino Iratzeder hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Angelino Rito could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Higinio Bladi made a huge save. With a little luck, Atlético de Madrid's Higinio Bladi got control of the ball when Angelino Rito tried to sneak it across the goal line. 19 minutes into the match, Florentino Iratzeder notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Claromeco's Baldomiro Buinton. Baldomiro Buinton was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After having played for 22 minutes, Angelino Rito managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Claromeco's supporters crossed their fingers, but Angelino Rito was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 26 minutes, Erasmo Corderro made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Atlético de Madrid's Higinio Bladi tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 31st minute, Florentino Iratzeder hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Erasmo Corderro struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Higinio Bladi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Claromeco. The supporters of Claromeco booed when Atlético de Madrid was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sammy Hargreaves didn't get a good kick on the ball. Higinio Bladi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Virgilio Sidro in the 36th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 37 minutes, Angelino Rito put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Higinio Bladi. After a rather tough play, Atlético de Madrid's Florentino Iratzeder got a free kick in the 41st minute. Angelino Rito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

Claromeco's Angelino Rito got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 58 minutes into the game, Rodrigo Montes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Atlético de Madrid's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Claromeco the free kick. The supporters of Claromeco booed when Atlético de Madrid was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodrigo Montes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 59th minute Erasmo Corderro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Higinio Bladi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Erasmo Corderro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Higinio Bladi having to make a save. Erasmo Corderro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Claromeco's Julio Haitz was substituted for Edgardo Cugat. Higinio Bladi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Angelino Rito, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sammy Hargreaves hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. A collision led to Claromeco getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Abel Kelemen hit a great ball. After 89 played minutes Atlético de Madrid got a freekick which was hit by Rodrigo Montes. Ian Pena hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Julio Haitz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Claromeco had played much better football throughout.
