With a little luck, Sparta FC's Ovidio Ursino got control of the ball when Cristo Milian tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 36th minute Augusto Oriol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pablo Ruy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pablo Ruy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Augusto Oriol in the 39th minute of play. In the 44th minute, Augusto Oriol made a precise shot to the right of Pablo Ruy. Aston Villa F.C's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After the first half Sparta FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Zeledon Jerold to make the kick off. Armando Ekhi charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Armando Ekhi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Aston Villa F.C's Armando Ekhi got a free kick in the 55th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nicolas Matei during the 59th minute.
