With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ceferino Sanduru prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 5 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's Ciro Maurin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Esteve Farias narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Rosendo Telmo might have been able to make a better finish in the 6th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Esteve Farias. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rosendo Telmo ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 10th match minute, Trinidad was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Apolo Burni to maneuver through the defense. If Apolo Burni had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leonardo Argenis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ceferino Sanduru having to interfere. 16 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's goal looked a bit too open when Leonardo Argenis came free, but Ceferino Sanduru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ceferino Sanduru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leonardo Argenis in the 22nd minute of the match. The Trinidad fans' excitement grew in the 24th match minute when Trinidad's Romeo Martinez looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rosendo Telmo got free with Esteve Farias in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Trinidad booed when Velez Sarsfield was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anselmo Chumo didn't get a good kick on the ball. 33 minutes into the match, Romeo Martinez notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Velez Sarsfield's Ceferino Sanduru. Ceferino Sanduru was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 37th minute of the match Maximiliano Roldanillo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ceferino Sanduru showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 42nd minute of the match Atilano Prejun shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ceferino Sanduru showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Velez Sarsfield's Ceferino Sanduru played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romeo Martinez in the 46th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 52nd minute, one of Trinidad:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Trinidad. After a rather tough play, Trinidad's Joaquin Ferdinand got a free kick in the 61st minute. Leonardo Argenis in the 64thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ceferino Sanduru, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 67 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Ceferino Sanduru had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Leonardo Argenis. In the 86th minute, Romeo Martinez reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ceferino Sanduru. The goal made the score 2-3. 96 minutes into the match, Trinidad's Romeo Martinez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ceferino Sanduru narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Trinidad's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
