Ceferino Cai recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vladimiro Pero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Velez Sarfield F.C's Ferdinando Barbanti got a free kick in the 13th minute. Vladimiro Pero kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. In the 20th minute, Velez Sarfield F.C's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Niceto Quintan fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. When Vladimiro Pero came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Velez Sarfield F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vladimiro Pero couldn't finish the play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sebastian Tabor was the one to do the kick off. After 51 played minutes Velez Sarfield F.C got a freekick which was hit by Edvin Danielsson. Vladimiro Pero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Deportivo Merlo's Lázaro Ferran played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ferdinando Barbanti in the 63rd minute of play. If Niceto Quintan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cornelio Silvino struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Christian Beat didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Deportivo Merlo. The supporters of Deportivo Merlo booed when Velez Sarfield F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. There was no doubt that Deportivo Merlo were the better team. Deportivo Merlo's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
